Why Choose SOS Cleaning and Restoration?

We are certified professional carpet cleaners with the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification), the organization that improves carpet cleaning standards and helps eliminate unethical carpet cleaning companies.  The IICRC provides continuing education for carpet cleaners and keeps us up to date on the latest technology.

The IICRC does not allow its members to use unethical “bait and switch” advertising. You’ve likely dealt with companies that offer coupons advertising carpet cleaning for $9.99 per room, but always end up charging you more. This is technically against the law, but very few carpet cleaners ever get prosecuted. Some professional carpet cleaners use deplorable advertising, and they don’t even clean your carpets well.

In most residential situations, we here at SOS Cleaning and Restoration only use hot water extraction. This is the method required by Shaw Industries, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer. There are other carpet cleaning methods, but they may or may not work for your carpets. We are happy to discuss all of the various methods we can use to give you your most thorough cleaning ever. Some of our carpet cleaning services include:

Pre-vacuuming

Furniture moving

Preconditioning

Spot Cleaning (red stains and pet stains)

Residue-free, soft-water rinse and extraction

Groom carpet pile

Carpet deodorizer

Premium fabric protector

Dusting baseboards

How Often Should I Clean My Carpet?

This is a commonly asked question. I have had people say that they have not had their carpets cleaned in 10 years or more because they have relied on myths and misconceptions.  The fact is that cleaning extends the life of your carpet and saves you the tremendous amount of money required to replace prematurely worn carpet.  Carpets cleaned on a regular basis provide a healthy, safe living environment for you and your family at the same time, adding years of life to one of the larger investments in your home. The question is, how often should carpets be cleaned?  The answer can depend on several factors.  The chart below is taken from the IICRC Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and can assist you in answering this all important question.

Residential Carpet Cleaning Frequency Chart

Did you know that according to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IIRC) you should have your carpets cleaned At least once per year depending on the amount of traffic? The IIRC is a professional association that trains & monitors cleaning technicians throughout the United States. To help you decide how often your carpets need to be cleaned, I have included a graph from the IIRC S100 book.

Clean Carpets Also Reduce Indoor Air Pollution

You’ve heard that indoor air is more polluted than outdoor air. Well, it’s true. The main reason is because indoor air is trapped; rarely is it completely replaced. Outdoor air on the other hand is blown away and replaced by new, cleaner air. Trapped indoor air gets pollutants from your carpet. You drag them in and they get lodged in your carpet. When someone walks over them, they are re-dispersed into your air and you breathe them in, over and over. But there is a way out of this vicious cycle. Getting your carpets cleaned thoroughly and regularly gets rid of these pollutants in your carpet.

Don’t Be a Victim of Unethical Carpet Cleaners

Many new clients have told us they were sick of the “cheap, top surface only cleaning” their carpets were getting from other professional carpet cleaners. We have seen the results of these un-educated cleaners ourselves. We usually wind up cleaning up after them.

These carpet cleaning companies also use harsh, cheap, and even dangerous cleaning agents (leaving toxic amounts of chemical residue in your home). Some of these residues are not even safe for your pets, much less your children. The chemicals that these uneducated carpet cleaners use are so harsh that they strip the life from carpet fibers, wearing them out and making your carpets look older. Plus, the equipment these carpets cleaners use don’t even pull out the embedded soil and debris that hide in the lowest part of your fibers and cause your carpet to wear faster. All of this means you’re going to need to replace your carpets sooner (which means big bucks!). Your home will also be a less healthy place to live.

These type of cleaners are untrained, unethical, and downright unscrupulous. You will not only pay more in the long run by going with the “cheap cleaners,” you also won’t enjoy the benefits of a great looking carpet or a safe and healthy home.
